Supported devices, and the settings that keep recording working
Sahay records calls your team makes from their own phones and their own SIMs. The recording itself works on any Android 8.0 or newer device. What varies by manufacturer is whether the phone lets Sahay keep running in the background long enough to upload it.
Requirements
- Operating system
- Android 8.0 (Oreo) or newer
- Tested up to
- Android 15
- Calls captured
- Calls placed and received on the phone’s own SIM
- iPhone
- Not supported — iOS does not permit call recording
- Virtual numbers
- Not required, and not used
Why manufacturer settings matter
Indian-market Android phones ship with aggressive battery savers. To extend battery life they stop apps running in the background — including apps the user deliberately installed and wants running.
For Sahay that shows up in one specific way: calls get recorded, but the recordings never reach your dashboard, because the phone killed the uploader before it finished. The rep sees nothing wrong. The manager sees missing calls.
Each fix below is a one-time toggle. Sahay prompts for these during onboarding on affected phones, but they can be set at any time from Account → “Why does Sahay sometimes stop?” in the app.
Samsung
One UIMost common causeCovers: Galaxy series
Samsung’s "Sleeping apps" and "Deep sleep" features silently stop call monitoring. This is the single most common reason recordings stop syncing.
- 1Battery → Background usage limits → Never sleeping apps → add Sahay.
- 2Settings → Apps → Sahay → Battery → Unrestricted.
Xiaomi
MIUI / HyperOSCovers: Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco
MIUI’s battery saver kills background apps aggressively. Three one-time toggles keep call tracking alive.
- 1Battery & performance → App battery saver → Sahay → No restrictions.
- 2Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Sahay → Autostart: ON.
- 3Settings → Apps → Sahay → Other permissions → "Display pop-up windows while running in the background": ON.
Oppo and Realme
ColorOSCovers: Oppo, Realme
ColorOS pauses background apps to save battery. Two toggles unlock Sahay from that default.
- 1Battery → App battery management → Sahay → Allow background activity.
- 2Settings → Apps → App management → Sahay → Allow auto-launch.
- 3Recent apps → swipe Sahay’s card up and lock it (the lock icon).
Exact menu names vary a little by ColorOS version — look for the Auto-launch and Background-activity toggles.
OnePlus
ColorOS / OxygenOSCovers: OnePlus
OnePlus can stop Sahay in the background even after you allow battery usage, so two toggles are needed rather than one.
- 1App management → Sahay → turn ON "Allow auto-launch" (sometimes called Auto-start).
- 2App management → Sahay → App battery usage → "Allow background activity", or set battery to "Don’t restrict".
Exact menu names vary a little by ColorOS version — look for the Auto-launch and Background-activity toggles.
Vivo and iQOO
Funtouch OSCovers: Vivo, iQOO
Funtouch OS background restrictions stop call sync until auto-start is allowed.
- 1Battery → High-performance background → add Sahay.
- 2Settings → Apps → Sahay → Battery usage → Allow background activity.
- 3Settings → More settings → Permission manager → Auto-start → Sahay: ON.
Huawei and Honor
EMUICovers: Huawei, Honor
EMUI’s PowerGenie kills background apps unless the app is marked as protected.
- 1Battery → App launch → Sahay → switch to "Manage manually", then enable all three: Auto-launch, Secondary launch, Run in background.
Everything else
Stock or near-stock AndroidCovers: Stock Android, Motorola, Nothing, Google Pixel and others
Less aggressive by default, but standard battery optimisation still needs turning off.
- 1Settings → Battery → turn off battery optimisation for Sahay.
- 2Restart the app once after changing the setting.
Recordings still not appearing?
- Check the app is not force-stopped. A force-stop from the app switcher or Settings prevents Sahay restarting itself until you open it again. On Oppo, Realme and OnePlus, locking the app’s card in Recents prevents accidental force-stops.
- Confirm the call was answered. Unanswered and missed calls are logged as activity but produce no recording, because there is no conversation to record.
- Give it a few minutes on mobile data. Uploads are queued and retried. A recording made in a low-signal area appears once the phone has a usable connection, not instantly.
- Re-check the toggle after a system update. Android and OEM skin updates sometimes reset battery permissions. If recordings stop right after an update, this is the first thing to check.
